It is alleged that Mukanwa Devilliers Simulya, a 23-year-old Namibian male, died following a hippo attack while fishing from a canoe.. After being attacked on the leg, he allegedly failed to reach the shore.. His body was retrieved two days later,

In another incident in the same area of Ngoma, it is alleged that a 12-year-old identified as Musheke Pumulo, a Zambian female national, drowned while swimming in the river with friends on 3 May 2026 at 14:42..
