Tinubu to visit France, Kenya and Rwanda for summits

Tinubu heads to France, Kenya and Rwanda for the Africa-France Summit and the Africa CEO Forum, with meetings and reform-focused statements.

Tinubu’s next diplomatic push is set to move from Abuja to three different capitals, with summits on the agenda.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday for official visits to France, Kenya, and Rwanda, according to Misryoum. The trip begins in France before moving to Nairobi, where he is expected to attend the Africa-France Summit.

A key part of the itinerary is the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto. The summit is scheduled for May 11 to 12, with discussions expected to cover energy transition, digital transformation, and climate action.

This matters because summits like these often shape high-level cooperation plans across policy areas that affect long-term investment and development priorities.

After the Kenya engagements, Misryoum reports that Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum. The forum is set to run from May 14 to 15 and will focus on business and policymaking conversations around economic growth and investment across the continent.

Meanwhile, Misryoum said the Africa CEO Forum is being organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, aiming to bring together business leaders and policymakers.

At both events, Tinubu is expected to deliver statements highlighting reforms underway in Nigeria, framed as efforts to reposition the country as a destination for investment and growth. He is also set to hold high-level meetings with global and African business leaders.

Tinubu will be accompanied on the trip by some of his ministers and senior aides, Misryoum added, as the engagements move from policy discussions to direct business outreach.

The broader significance is that these visits blend government messaging with sector-level networking, which can influence how partnerships are negotiated after the summit headlines fade.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda engagement.
