State House security breach case reaches court

A 29-year-old man accused of infiltrating the Namibian State House while naked appeared in court today to face multiple charges.

UPDATE: Giano Seibeb (29), who is accused of breaching security points at State House and entering the presidential residence naked, appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court this morning.. He is charged with three counts, which include trespassing, housebreaking with intent to commit an offence, as well as contravening Section 7 of the Immoral Practices Act.. Seibeb is said to have breached security and entered the President’s residence on 30 April 2026.. He is said to

have been booked into the mental health ward of Windhoek Central Hospital but allegedly escaped without being formally discharged.. He has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.. The state prosecutor asked that the matter be postponed to 22 June 2026 for the accused to undergo a mental evaluation to ascertain whether he understands court proceedings, and requested that the accused be kept at the Windhoek Correctional Facility.. Seibeb, during court proceedings, said he could speak all languages,

including Swahili, and stated that he would like to plead guilty as he did not want to waste the court’s time.
