Sixers vs Celtics: Embiid’s push forces Game 7

Sixers vs – Joel Embiid and Philadelphia kept their season alive with a Game 6 win over Boston, setting up a Game 7 in the series.

One possession at a time, the Sixers flipped the script and now force a Game 7 against the Celtics.

Philadelphia took Game 6 on Thursday night. beating Boston 106-93 to set up a decisive final match in their first-round playoff series.. Joel Embiid may not have lit it up offensively. finishing with 19 points on 6-of-18 shooting. but he contributed across the stat sheet with 10 rebounds and a team-high eight assists.

Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey delivered the kind of scoring that tends to define playoff swings. He poured in 30 points, added five assists, and contributed defensively with two steals. Paul George also played a major role, scoring 23 points as the Sixers avoided elimination once again.

For the Celtics, this one mirrored the frustration of a series that has already refused to settle. Boston suffered its second straight loss after previously owning a 3-1 lead, and the pressure is mounting as Game 7 approaches.

Early on. neither team managed to seize clear control. with the score tied 20-20 near the end of the first quarter.. The Celtics moved ahead by three after that stretch. but Philadelphia responded by building a 38-36 edge midway through the second quarter.. The Sixers then turned momentum into separation with an 11-4 run, carrying a 58-49 advantage into halftime.

What’s most striking is how Philadelphia turned a halftime lead into a late-game statement. Once the Sixers gained breathing room, the Celtics struggled to match the intensity on both ends.

The second half brought the separation Boston couldn’t afford.. Early in the third quarter. Philadelphia extended its lead to 17 points. and Boston’s offense ran into trouble. managing just 14 points in the period.. By the fourth, the Sixers built their largest cushion, leading by as many as 23 en route to the win.

Defensively and offensively, Philadelphia looked more organized when it mattered.. Maxey’s shot-making and playmaking helped, while George’s scoring provided another reliable option.. Boston. in contrast. shot 29.3% from three as a team and committed 13 turnovers against 18 assists. a combination that makes it difficult to sustain runs.

Even with Jaylen Brown leading the way for Boston with 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting, the Celtics couldn’t close the gap in time. Game 7 is scheduled for Saturday, and for both teams, the stakes couldn’t be clearer.

In playoff basketball, forcing a Game 7 is often less about one perfect night and more about tightening details when the margin shrinks. For the Sixers, that’s exactly what they did as the series reaches its final chapter.
