Savannah Guthrie Issues Desperate Plea Nine Months After Mother’s Kidnapping

Television co-host Savannah Guthrie has issued an emotional public appeal for information regarding the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, marking nine months since she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona.
On Sunday, Guthrie shared an image on Instagram featuring a drawing created by her young daughter. The artwork depicts a blue umbrella encircled by raindrops accompanied by a hand-written caption reading, “I might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.” Guthrie wrote that her child’s drawing captured the depth of the family’s grief and ongoing struggle.

“For Annie and Tommy, for Cam and Kristine, for Mike and me and for all of mom’s beloved grandchildren: we ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward,” Guthrie stated in the post, explicitly naming members of her immediate family. “We need someone to help us, tell us what you know.”
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her residence on February 1. Federal and local authorities previously confirmed that the abduction involved a ransom demand. The investigation, led by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department with support from the FBI, has yet to secure a major breakthrough. Investigators noted in July that forensic testing performed on a hair recovered from the home failed to match any suspects.
Despite the lack of significant arrests, a specialized task force remains active and continues to pursue investigative leads. The sheriff’s office recently reported on social media that task force members traveled to Florida to consult with laboratory scientists regarding potential methods to advance the forensic work in the case.
Reflecting on the enduring trauma, Guthrie described her mother as “a light in this world” and emphasized that the family remains unable to find closure. She reiterated that a financial reward remains available for verifiable information leading to answers.

“We are begging you,” Guthrie wrote in her concluding appeal. “Please help us.”
