Bail steps follow Sarnia police blitz: 7 accused back out of jail

Following a Sarnia police blitz, multiple accused were released on bail or without bail court, with several set for upcoming court dates.

A police blitz in Sarnia didn’t end with arrests, as seven accused were later released from custody and returned to their next court dates.

Misryoum reports that a 38-year-old man was located in a nearby building and charged with theft, breaching probation, and breaching bail.. Police say he was released by the courts, with records indicating bail set at $250.. The conditions also include a ban on contacting two people, and he is scheduled to return to court next Thursday.

This matters because release terms and contact restrictions can shape how fast cases move and how closely defendants can engage with their alleged targets.

Later on the blitz day, shortly before 5 p.m., police arrested another person over an allegation involving hardware stolen from a business on London Road.. Around the same evening window, a 62-year-old Sarnia resident was charged with theft and was released by police without being taken to bail court.

Meanwhile, shortly after 5:20 p.m., police arrested a woman connected to an alleged shoplifting incident from February, in which Misryoum reports that nearly $500 worth of goods were taken.. A 58-year-old Sarnia woman was then charged with theft and breaching probation, and was also released by police.

These releases reflect a common shift from the immediate enforcement phase of a blitz to the slower pace of court scheduling, where conditions can carry real-world consequences.

A little before 6 p.m., police found a wanted woman on London Road.. A 28-year-old woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant and released by the courts, according to Misryoum.. Records show she posted $100 bail on Friday afternoon, which included a ban on going to a house on Mitton Street North, and she is due back in court on June 2.

At this stage, the case outcomes will depend on what is argued in court, and the restrictions attached to bail can influence daily routines as proceedings continue. Misryoum will keep tracking developments as the accused return to court.
