Sacramento Ring Footage Shows Knife-Wielding Suspect Before Arrest

Ring camera – Misryoum reports a knife-wielding man behaved erratically in a Sacramento neighborhood before being arrested, released, and re-arrested the same night.
A Sacramento County man caught on neighborhood doorbell camera appeared to act erratically with a knife before being taken into custody, in an incident that quickly escalated into repeat arrests.
Misryoum says Ring footage from the Arden area shows the suspect gripping a knife, raising it into the air, and pacing near homes along La Sierra Drive while deputies responded to reports from the neighborhood.
The footage captured moments that authorities described as erratic behavior, as deputies moved in during the Thursday evening calls and identified the man as 56-year-old Brian Mattson.
The case has unfolded with unusual speed, illustrating how quickly public-safety responses can shift when risk rises in residential areas.
According to Misryoum, Mattson was arrested without incident initially.. Investigators said the only immediate charge they had available was misdemeanor trespassing.. But despite his felony probation status. he was released less than two hours later after the probation department declined to place a hold on him.
Within hours of that release, Misryoum reports deputies were called again after another trespassing complaint involving Mattson, this time near a business along Fair Oaks Boulevard and San Lucas Way. He was located at the scene and arrested again without incident.
After the second arrest, Misryoum says a probation-violation hold was approved, and Mattson is being held at the Sacramento County main jail without bail. A court date has been set for May 5, according to inmate records.
This episode highlights a difficult reality for communities and law enforcement: when erratic behavior meets overlapping legal statuses, the system can move fast, and outcomes can change even within the same night.
Misryoum will continue monitoring developments as the case proceeds through the courts.
