Revere Pizzeria Fires Back After Customer Criticizes Service

Luigi’s Pizzeria in Revere responded with biting sarcasm to a customer who complained about not being able to order single slices during a busy promotional night.

The line was already stretched thin on a Monday night, with 383 pizzas moving through an oven that could only hold 12 at a time. For the staff at Luigi’s Pizzeria in Revere, it was a test of capacity. For one customer, it was a grievance.

“Imagine my surprise … a pizzeria without slices!” the customer wrote on Facebook on Sept. 28, declaring he wouldn’t return. The complaint targeted the restaurant’s operational choice to prioritize oven space for its $9 large cheese pizza special—a promotion launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist those on fixed incomes.

Luigi’s did not take the critique quietly. In a public response, the shop apologized for the “unfathomable hardship” the customer endured, noting, “Clearly, our massive oversight was failing to clear out our entire kitchen setup specifically for Tom’s slice-and-fountain soda emergency.”

The staff’s frustration bubbled over into a blunt closing sentiment: “Since waiting a few extra minutes while we feed our community is such a tragic inconvenience for you. please feel free to take your business (and your delightful charm) somewhere else. We’re sure another place will be thrilled to have you!”.

Manager Justin Pioppi, who appeared on Season 48 of “Survivor” last year, said the decision to post the rebuttal came after the review struck a nerve with his employees. According to Pioppi, the customer did receive his slices, though he had to wait for the queue of existing orders to be cleared.

Pioppi believes the online friction stems from a disconnect between consumer entitlement and the reality of small-business operations. He argues that customers should voice their frustrations directly to the business rather than broadcasting them to a digital void. Despite the public spat. the community’s appetite has not waned; last week. the shop experienced its busiest week in 45 years. outperforming even the surge of interest following Pioppi’s television appearance.
