Redondo Beach Pier Evacuated as Police Activity Prompts Closures

Misryoum reports that Redondo Beach officials ordered evacuations and closed roads near the pier Sunday due to police activity.

A quiet Sunday at the Redondo Beach Pier was disrupted after city officials urged people to evacuate and avoid the area due to police activity.

Misryoum reports that around 11 a.m.. the Redondo Beach Police Department sent out an alert asking anyone near the pier to leave the area safely.. The message also indicated that nearby streets would be closed. including Catalina Avenue between Torrance Boulevard and Beryl Street. advising residents and visitors to stay away until further notice.

This kind of precautionary closure can ripple quickly through a busy coastal area, changing plans for families, commuters, and anyone who was planning to spend the morning near the water.

Later updates indicated the pier would remain closed beyond the initial alert window. According to Misryoum, the department posted an additional notice shortly before noon stating the closure would continue until further notice as the situation unfolded.

Sunday also happened to be the final day of the BeachLife Festival. a major local event expected to open around noon.. Organizers had planned live performances from well-known musical acts. but Misryoum has not yet received additional clarification on whether the event schedule would be adjusted in light of the police activity and pier closure.

For festival-goers and local businesses, disruptions near a central venue can affect foot traffic and event timing, making clear, timely updates especially important.

At this stage, details about what prompted the police response were not immediately available through Misryoum. The city’s guidance has remained focused on keeping people away from the pier area and respecting the road closures until officials provide further direction.

Misryoum will continue to monitor developments as authorities assess the situation and as festival organizers determine how Sunday’s programming may proceed.
