PS Plus adds sci-fi RPGs—Horizon Remastered, plus indie hit Monster Train

If you’ve been waiting for PS Plus to feel worth checking again, this month’s lineup has a couple of real “okay, fine, I’ll play that” moments.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is landing for all Extra and Premium members from 21 April. It’s one of those sci-fi RPGs that already looked stunning in its original PS4 run, and the remastered version… well, it takes the shine further. The buzz around it isn’t just nostalgia either; Misryoum notes that the PS5 Pro angle is especially tempting, with the console’s updated PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) technology delivering a crisp, more detailed facelift, plus buttery smooth 60fps gameplay.

And yes, these are still troubling times for gaming—hardware prices have people doing math they didn’t ask for, and reports of delays for next-generation consoles have been floating around. But in the middle of that mess, the PS5 Pro “finally coming into its own” is exactly the kind of headline that makes people quietly rethink what they were planning to buy.

There’s also the broader PS Plus hook: subscribers don’t just get Horizon. Misryoum newsroom reported that the newly-upgraded Cyberpunk 2077 is also available at no extra cost. So, if you’re an Extra or Premium member, it’s not just one game—it’s the idea of having a more polished sci-fi-heavy month where you can bounce between worlds without paying again.

Still, even with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered sitting there like a big, beautifully rendered centerpiece, Misryoum editorial desk thinks you shouldn’t overlook another release coming the same day. Monster Train is the addictive indie hit in this story—more than once people have called it a “must-have” for a reason, and that reason is simple: it’s the kind of roguelite deck-builder that makes time disappear.

You control a band of demons and monsters, trying to stop Heaven’s soldiers from breaching your Hell-bound locomotive and destroying its energy source—the pyre. The gameplay loops around playing cards and using power-ups to defeat enemies as they crawl up four levels of your train. It’s similar to Slay the Spire in many ways, except—this is the hook—on public transport. (Somehow the sound of cards sliding into place in the UI feels… satisfying. Like, genuinely.)

Monster Train will be available at no extra cost from 21 April, too, but it’s PS5 only. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, meanwhile, can also be downloaded on PS4 in its original form. The rest of the Extra and Premium additions listed by Misryoum are: The Crew Motorfest (PS5, PS4), Football Manager 26 Console (PS5), Warriors: Abyss (PS5, PS4), Squirrel with a Gun (PS5), and The Casting of Frank Stone (PS5). And if you’re on Premium, Wild Arms 4 (PS5, PS4) is also being added to the classics library.

For anyone trying to pick what to play first—Horizon’s remastered sci-fi spectacle, or Monster Train’s “one more run” trap—that’s basically the real question now. And honestly, once you start Monster Train… you might not come up for air until the train hits the last stop—or maybe you don’t even make it that far.
