Pokémon Reveals New Mewtwo Design for 30th Anniversary Release

The Pokémon franchise is gearing up for its major 30th-anniversary milestone in 2026, rolling out a extensive wave of video game releases, merchandise, and high-profile brand collaborations. Among the latest items introduced for the anniversary festivities is a redesigned look for the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, featured prominently on a new piece of adult jewelry.

Available now for pre-order on the official Pokémon Center website, the “Mewtwo Metal Hybrid Ring by Enso” is priced at $134.99. The accessory showcases Mewtwo displaying its characteristic intense glare against a deep purple background. The ring features an interchangeable design where the outer portion, crafted from titanium, can be removed to reveal a secondary silicone band underneath. It is currently offered in sizes 6 through 13, though high demand for franchise collectibles could lead to rapid inventory depletion.

For fans seeking more budget-friendly alternatives, the Pokémon Center has also released silicone rings featuring Gengar and Charizard, priced at $44.99 each. These models do not include the removable titanium outer layer found on the Mewtwo version. They share the same size availability range, though the Gengar ring is already sold out in size 13.

The inclusion of Mewtwo, Gengar, and Charizard taps into the deep nostalgia of the franchise’s origins. All three creatures hail from the original Kanto region introduced in Generation 1 and remain enduring fan favorites. Throughout the anniversary year, these characters have also been featured in dedicated collaborations with brands like Adidas, alongside special trading card game collections and other merchandise.

Mewtwo holds a particularly significant place in the franchise’s history. Following its debut in the original Red and Blue video games, the character gained massive global prominence through its starring role in the 1990s animated feature Pokémon: The First Movie — Mewtwo Strikes Back, a status later reinforced by the recent Evolution remake.

The 30th-anniversary celebration encompasses a wide array of content beyond jewelry and apparel. Throughout the year, Nintendo has slated various video game releases, including FireRed and LeafGreen on the eShop, Pokémon Pokopia on the Switch 2, and Pokémon Champions, alongside a February broadcast that offered a first look at the Gen 10 titles Pokémon Winds and Waves. Merchandise partnerships have likewise seen heavy engagement, with items such as Santa Cruz skateboard decks selling out instantly upon release, alongside collaborative efforts with Stern pinball and Puma.
