Perigus Energy launched after CIP acquisition of Ørsted platform

Perigus Energy has been launched in Europe after CIP completed its acquisition of Ørsted’s onshore platform, aiming to expand wind, solar, and storage.

A new onshore renewables player in Europe has just stepped onto the stage, and its launch is tied to a major deal being finalized.

Perigus Energy officially began operating after Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) completed the acquisition of Ørsted’s European onshore business, a step that rebrands the former Ørsted platform under a new identity.. The move gives the newly named company a clearer mandate to develop, build, and run onshore wind, solar, and battery storage across multiple markets.

The company will focus on Ireland, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain, with an existing base spanning operational and under-construction projects totaling 826 MW.. In addition to what is already in progress, Perigus Energy says it has a multi-gigawatt development pipeline intended to be investment-ready.

This matters because onshore projects can move faster than many grid-scale alternatives, and companies with both operating assets and pipeline depth often shape how quickly new capacity reaches consumers.

Perigus Energy also positioned its structure around continuity, noting that existing contracts, partners, and counterparties are not affected by the transaction.. The company said it will continue building from the delivery experience and operational footprint that were already in place across different technologies and markets.

As part of its early rollout, the company pointed to its portfolio contribution to electricity supply for the equivalent of around 600,000 European homes, alongside five additional projects currently under construction in Ireland and Germany.. The emphasis is on combining established delivery capability with the capacity to bring more projects through development.

Meanwhile, leadership described the launch as a transition rather than a reset.. CIP’s partner Kunal Patel said the Perigus Energy platform brings a proven team, an operating portfolio, and a pipeline across key European power markets, framing the effort as a way to accelerate clean and reliable power.

Perigus Energy’s chief executive Kieran White added that while the name is new, the mission remains consistent, pointing to Europe’s need for secure, home-grown electricity in a period of high volatility in energy markets.. He said CIP’s involvement is expected to enhance delivery across the company’s onshore wind, solar, and storage pipeline.

Headquartered in Cork, Perigus Energy employs more than 200 people across offices in several European locations, including Germany, the UK, and Spain. The company’s next step is to focus on unlocking the potential of its pipeline and advancing additional renewable capacity in its core regions.

In the big picture, reshaping onshore platforms under fresh branding can be more than a corporate change: it can determine who has the resources and momentum to keep projects coming as regulators, grids, and customers press for steady clean power.

Insight: The launch of Perigus Energy reflects how capital and operating experience are being reorganized to keep onshore wind and solar growth moving, especially when storage is becoming part of the standard energy mix.

Insight: For Europe, that pipeline race is likely to be closely watched, because the ability to convert planned renewable projects into operational assets can influence energy security and transition progress.
