Old Airport Road accident sends four to hospital
Four individuals were hospitalized following a collision between two vehicles near the Old Airport Road Food Centre, prompting police investigations and temporary traffic diversions.
A violent collision at the junction of Old Airport Road and Cassia Link sent four people to the hospital late on April 30, disrupting traffic flow in the busy area.
Emergency responders were alerted to the accident at approximately 10:25 p.m. When the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived, they discovered a driver trapped within the wreckage of one of the vehicles.
Specialized hydraulic rescue equipment was deployed to free the individual from the crushed cabin. Meanwhile, emergency personnel assessed the remaining victims to ensure they could be transported safely for medical treatment.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly road conditions can change, turning a standard evening commute into a serious emergency that requires immediate public resource mobilization.
The four victims, consisting of two drivers and two passengers ranging in age from 27 to 53, were conscious upon being transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. At least four police officers and a fire engine remained on-site late into the night to manage the aftermath.
Significant damage was visible on the bonnet of one involved car, which blocked the path for other commuters. Authorities worked quickly to secure the scene as the vehicles were cleared by tow trucks.
The resulting road blockage forced the diversion of eight separate bus services. Commuters were advised through local transport channels to avoid the area while officials processed the wreckage.
Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Misryoum will continue to monitor the situation as further updates become available regarding the cause of the collision.
Prioritizing road safety and adhering to traffic signals at junctions remains critical, as even minor lapses in judgment at intersections can lead to life-altering consequences for multiple motorists.
