NSE International Exchange Extends Trading Hours to 23.5 Daily

India’s NSE International Exchange has extended its operations to near round-the-clock trading, instituting a schedule that spans 23 hours and 30 minutes each business day. The expanded access took effect on November 2, according to an announcement from the exchange operator on Tuesday.
Under the new timetable, trading runs from 3:15 a.m. Indian Standard Time to 2:45 a.m. the following day. Exchange officials stated that the continuous structure is designed to accommodate market participants across Asian, European, and US financial hours.
“By enabling market access across all time zones, we are providing participants with greater flexibility and strengthening GIFT City’s connectivity with global financial markets,” said V. Balasubramaniam, managing director and chief executive officer of NSE International Exchange.

Established in 2017, the exchange is located in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, known as GIFT City, and operates under the regulatory oversight of the International Financial Services Centres Authority. Its product offerings include stock, index, and currency derivatives, alongside depository receipts and global stocks. The extended schedule supports an ongoing broader initiative to establish GIFT City as a premier international finance center for India.
Sustaining the nearly continuous session relies on specialized technical infrastructure capable of executing rapid system maintenance. The exchange reported that its technology allows maintenance routines to finish within three minutes between operational blocks, while end-of-day system updates require less than 15 minutes.
Exchange leadership indicated that infrastructure enhancements and international outreach will continue as part of efforts to meet the demands of worldwide participants. The schedule expansion follows the public market debut of the National Stock Exchange of India a month prior, a milestone that concluded a decade-long listing effort and positioned the bourse among the 10 most valuable publicly traded exchanges globally.
