Microsoft Office on Logitech MX Creative Console: faster workflows with new plugins

Logitech is adding free Productivity Plugins to its MX Creative Console, bringing Office actions for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint—plus Slack and Notion—alongside improved Easy Switch across MX devices.
Logitech just made the MX Creative Console feel a lot more like a work tool than a creativity accessory, with new plugins that reach into daily productivity apps like Microsoft Office.
The headline is Logitech’s latest “Productivity Plugins” suite for its MX line—starting with the MX Creative Console (launched in September 2024).. Logitech says the console has already been gaining features through plugins for creativity-focused apps. and it’s now extending that same idea into Word. Excel. and PowerPoint.. Along the way, it’s also adding support for collaboration and planning tools like Slack and Notion.
At the center of the experience are quick-access menus built around Logitech’s Actions Ring system.. Instead of hunting through app menus or remembering keyboard shortcuts by muscle memory. users can trigger shortcuts. actions. and targeted tools directly from the console and compatible MX accessories.. The Actions Rings are designed to work with Logitech hardware such as the MX Master 4 mouse and the MX Mechanical Mini keyboard. with configuration handled inside the Logi Options Plus app.
One of the most practical promises here is the idea of dedicated buttons and repeatable actions.. With the MX Creative Console and the new plugins. you can set up function mappings for common Office tasks—things like text replacement in Word. inserting cells in Excel. or applying formatting in PowerPoint.. The same principle extends beyond Microsoft’s suite: Slack workspace switching and Notion to-do formatting are both included as examples of how these actions can be tailored to recurring work.
That focus on “recurring” matters more than it sounds.. For many knowledge workers. the biggest time sink isn’t deep work—it’s the small interruptions: switching contexts. applying the same formatting. rewriting the same snippet. or moving between workspaces.. When those micro-tasks are pushed onto physical controls, the day’s friction shrinks, and the workflow feels more continuous.
There’s also a software ecosystem angle.. Logitech is positioning Logi Options Plus as the control hub. which means the MX Creative Console is less a standalone gadget and more a customizable layer over multiple apps.. In practice. that could reduce the need to memorize dozens of shortcuts across different tools. especially for teams that use the same set of templates. formatting rules. or repeated document steps.
Logitech says the Productivity Plugins are available for free through the Logi Marketplace.. That matters because plugin ecosystems often struggle with adoption—people won’t bother installing or testing add-ons unless the barrier to entry is low.. A free rollout also gives early users a reason to update their setups immediately. and it creates a larger base of feedback that Logitech can use to refine and expand support.
Beyond the plugin news. Logitech also announced improvements to its Easy Switch feature. aimed at a common pain point: flipping between multiple computers without getting stuck pressing buttons on each device.. Instead of needing to hit Easy Switch repeatedly across hardware. Logi Options Plus can be configured so that pressing the Easy Switch button on certain keyboards automatically switches paired accessories.
The update is designed to work with devices like the MX Keys S and MX Keys Mini keyboards. tying them together with compatible MX hardware such as an MX mouse and the MX Creative Dialpad.. Logitech says one press can switch up to three devices. which is the kind of workflow upgrade that frequent “laptop + desktop” users will notice fast—especially when moving between a work machine and a personal setup.
As with many cross-device features. there’s a dependency: Logitech notes that a firmware update will be required for the accessories you want to use with the updated Easy Switch behavior.. Logitech also plans to expand support to additional keyboards across the MX line in the future. signaling that this is the start of broader device choreography rather than a one-off feature.
For productivity teams. the overall direction is clear: hardware controls are being pulled deeper into the software people live in every day.. The MX Creative Console is no longer only about “creative apps. ” but about making Office. collaboration tools. and note-taking feel more responsive to physical interaction—turning actions that usually take clicks into motions you can trigger in a moment.
