Man arrested after six-hour string of Valley sexual assaults

Damian Denzell Robinson, 29, was arrested after allegations of six sexual assaults across the San Fernando Valley over Sunday. Police are seeking more victims.
A man accused of multiple sexual assaults across the San Fernando Valley over the course of a few hours has been arrested, Los Angeles police said.
The suspect, Damian Denzell Robinson, 29, was booked into custody Thursday morning in Van Nuys. According to police, he turned himself in Wednesday night at a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department station in Lancaster.
Authorities say the alleged attacks took place Sunday and began just after 9 a.m.. when Robinson approached an elderly woman inside a business in Granada Hills.. Police allege he pulled down her pants, grabbed her, and sexually assaulted her.. About 45 minutes later—roughly a mile and a half away—police say he targeted another woman in Northridge near the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Calahan Street.. Investigators say he attempted to pull down her pants before she resisted and he fled.
The pattern described by police then continued shortly after, with an additional alleged assault near Lassen Street and Encino Avenue, about a mile and a half away. In that incident, police say Robinson assaulted a woman while recording the encounter on his cellphone before fleeing.
By late morning and into the afternoon. police say Robinson was linked to four more incidents across several communities. including assaults at businesses and retail locations.. Investigators allege one assault occurred around 11:15 a.m.. inside a grocery store in Winnetka near Vanowen Street and Corbin Avenue, where a woman was grabbed from behind.. Just over an hour later. police say Robinson assaulted another woman at a market near Mason Avenue and Sherman Way. recording her on his cellphone before fleeing.. The sixth reported assault was alleged to have happened at 3:20 p.m.. inside a restroom at a retail store near Corbin Avenue and Nordhoff Street. where police say he used a cellphone to record a woman in a bathroom stall.
Police said the incidents were captured on security cameras, and that investigators identified Robinson as the suspect after reviewing the footage. Prosecutors later connected multiple assaults to the same suspect based on the video evidence.
Robinson has a prior criminal history, according to court and police records.. Police say he was arrested in 2018 and charged with indecent exposure. after which he pleaded no contest and was sentenced to three years’ probation.. In 2019, he was arrested again on a misdemeanor controlled substance possession charge.
While the arrest brings one chapter to a close, police said they are still looking for other possible victims.. That request matters because sexual assault cases often involve additional incidents that may not surface immediately—especially when victims are unsure whether they will be believed or whether reporting could expose them to harassment or retaliation.. Investigators are encouraging anyone with information to contact the department.
For residents across the Valley, the allegations also underscore how quickly danger can travel through public spaces.. Police described multiple attacks happening within a single day across different neighborhoods and types of businesses—an alarming reminder that safety planning. vigilance. and timely reporting can affect outcomes.. Businesses and shoppers are left with the same question: how did this pattern go unnoticed for so long. and how can communities reduce the risk that similar incidents occur again?
As authorities work to determine whether any other assaults are connected. the focus is likely to shift from the arrest itself to the investigative follow-through.. Investigators will examine camera footage. cross-check victim accounts. and evaluate whether Robinson’s previous record suggests a broader pattern of conduct.. The next steps could include locating additional witnesses. confirming timelines. and ensuring that victims receive support as cases move through the system.
