Makoti Festival Doubles Stages, Energy Powers On

Misryoum reports the Makoti Festival added a second stage for the first time, boosting performances and bringing DJs and artists from the region.
Makoti Festival energy hit another gear this weekend as Misryoum reports the event introduced a second stage for the first time.
The fifth edition, held at Malkerns Country Club on Saturday, added a dedicated dance stage that expanded the festival’s platform and helped performances move with more breathing room, while also amplifying the overall sound.. The result was a steady buzz across the grounds as revellers kept bouncing between sets.
With 30-plus acts on the bill, the festival continued to center the country’s arts and culture, aiming to give both established and emerging performers a bigger stage to shine on. Misryoum notes that the dance stage also became a focal point for regional DJs.
That matters because a wider setup doesn’t just increase capacity. It changes the festival rhythm, allowing different styles to land without one crowd being pulled away from another.
Several DJs from across the region were on hand, including talent from South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Eswatini. Among the names featured were SkyWhite from Mozambique, alongside AyaCity, Bandora, Sgitha, and others, each bringing their own flavor to the day’s mix.
Meanwhile, the main stage delivered its own pulse. South African media personality and Uzalo actress Phindy Sifunda-Mashabane, known as “TheRealQueen,” brought a high-energy performance that quickly lifted the atmosphere.
Nothando Hlophe, an internationally recognized gospel singer, also took the stage with a set that blended gospel with cultural elements, including kutsamba. Mozambican star Liloca added a bright touch, while local acts kept momentum strong as the day went on.
In this context, the second stage feels like more than an upgrade. It signals a festival that is actively shaping how audiences experience live music, dance, and DJ culture in one continuous flow.
Local performers included Velemiseni, Sancheziey, Judah, Sarnilo, Young Zesh, Lyrikal Busta, True Classic, Stella Jacobs, and MCO Jamrock, all of whom contributed to a packed program.
Misryoum says the addition of the second stage underlines the Makoti Festival’s growth, reinforcing its role as a major cultural and entertainment platform.
