Magic’s Mosley: Fix Needed for Game 7

After a brutal Game 6 collapse, Jamahl Mosley says Orlando must regroup fast and apply what worked in the first half ahead of Game 7.
Orlando’s pathway to the second round just took a sharp turn, and Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley knows the team has to fix a lot before Game 7.
In Game 6 against the Detroit Pistons, the Magic looked capable of closing out the series after leading 60-38 at halftime. Instead, Orlando’s offense fell apart after the break, with Detroit overwhelming them in the second half and handing the Magic a 93-79 loss that swung the series momentum.
The most troubling part for Orlando was how quickly things went sideways: in the fourth quarter. the Magic converted just once on 20 attempts.. Mosley’s message afterward was clear. acknowledging that the second half was a disaster while urging the team to remember they had played at a high level earlier.
In this context, Game 7 becomes less about talent and more about execution under pressure, especially when a team’s confidence is forced to absorb a sudden collapse.
Mosley stressed that the foundation for fixing things exists. He pointed to Orlando’s defensive mentality, their ball-sharing on offense, and their ability to create quality shots in the first half as elements they can “lean” on heading into the decisive matchup.
He also indicated that the Pistons created problems that Orlando has to solve: Detroit’s pressure, its ability to speed the game up, and its impact on Orlando’s set offense left the Magic searching for answers when the game tightened.
Even with the sting of Game 6, the Magic still have a realistic route forward, with one win separating them from advancing. Misryoum notes that the challenge for Orlando now is mental resets as much as tactical adjustments, because a series closeout can swing both momentum and morale.
Orlando will have to carry forward the parts of their performance that worked, while being far more responsive to what Detroit changes when it raises the heat.
Whatever happens next, Game 7 is a referendum on how quickly Orlando can translate lessons into play. Misryoum will be watching closely to see whether the Magic can protect the good they showed earlier and eliminate the breakdowns that defined the second half.
