Kentucky bank – A masked man shot and killed two U.S. Bank employees in Berea, Kentucky. Police are asking residents to stay alert as the search continues.
A masked suspect remains at large after a bank robbery in central Kentucky left two employees dead, prompting an urgent manhunt and renewed warnings to residents.
Misryoum reports that Kentucky State Police said the robbery unfolded at a U.S. Bank branch on Chestnut Street in Berea around 2 p.m. Thursday. Authorities said the suspect entered the bank, shot two employees, and then fled.
State Police Trooper Scottie Pennington said officials understand the fear gripping Berea and nearby Madison County, and emphasized the priority is getting the person responsible off the streets.
In situations like this, the immediate focus is public safety and rapid information sharing, because what happens in the minutes after a crime can shape how quickly investigators can reach a suspect and prevent additional harm.
Police described the suspect as about 6 feet 3 inches tall and wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark gloves, gray pants, and light-colored athletic shoes. Authorities also said they have released an image of the individual as part of the ongoing search.
Pennington said the investigation has not yet established whether anything was taken from the bank. and officials were still determining whether the suspect escaped on foot or in a vehicle.. He urged residents to remain vigilant, keep doors locked, and contact law enforcement if they notice anything suspicious.
The broader takeaway is that even when details are still developing, community vigilance can help law enforcement connect the dots faster, especially in smaller cities where residents may recognize unusual behavior quickly.
As the search continues, Berea, a city of more than 16,000 people roughly 40 miles south of Lexington, is under heightened attention. Pennington also called on the public to keep porch lights on and offered a direct message to the suspect to turn himself in before anyone else is hurt.
Misryoum notes that investigators are continuing to work the case as authorities ask for patience and cooperation from the community during the ongoing effort to locate the suspect.
