Jimmy Kimmel Rips Trump Over Jesus-Themed Posts

Jimmy Kimmel went after President Donald Trump on Wednesday night in a way that felt less like commentary and more like a running argument—same themes, same frustration.
Kimmel’s main point was that Trump keeps making what he called the same “dumb” mistake, then moving on like nothing happened. “This is how he operates,” the late-night host said. “He does something dumb. Everyone around him tries to clean it up for him. And then he just does it again.”
The latest target was Trump’s pattern of posts tied to Jesus. Earlier this week, Trump sparked outrage—including among his own supporters—when he shared an image portraying himself as Jesus Christ. He later claimed the AI-generated picture was actually him as a doctor. But there wasn’t an apology. Instead, he deleted the post.
Then, on Wednesday, Kimmel said Trump did it again. This time the image was different, but the idea—Trump and Jesus—wasn’t really going anywhere. “It was not him as Jesus, but with Jesus,” Kimmel said. “He posted this image of Jesus… quietly begging him to stop.”
Kimmel also brought up another picture that wasn’t shared by Trump but has circulated among his supporters for years. In that image, Jesus is leaning over Trump in the Oval Office, appearing to guide the president’s hand. Kimmel, though, offered a separate take—one that sounded like it was meant to sting.
In his framing, Jesus isn’t there as a symbol of mercy. Instead, he suggested the scene is more like a warning while Trump reads. “This one shows Jesus looking over Trump’s shoulders as he reads the Epstein files,” Kimmel said. “He’s like, ‘You’re going to hell for this and this and this.’”
As Kimmel delivered it, you could almost picture the room—somewhere in the background, the low thump of stage audio and the dry scratch of paper for teleprompter notes. He didn’t slow down to unpack the whole claim. He kept it moving, back to the larger theme: Trump posts, outrage follows, and then—whether it’s an explanation, a deletion, or a new image—he does it again. Actually, or maybe that’s the whole point: the behavior repeats so often it starts to feel like the story itself.
