Jaguar’s Electric Type 01 Keeps The Concept Car’s Edge

Jaguar Type – Jaguar transitions from concept to reality with the Type 01, a 1,016-horsepower electric grand tourer that retains the polarizing design of its predecessor.

The silhouette is low-slung, the side profile is aggressively extended, and the 23-inch wheels dominate the stance. When Jaguar pulled the covers off the Type 01, it became immediately clear that the company was sticking to its guns. Despite the departure of the design chief behind the polarising Type 00 concept earlier this year. the final production model carries over almost every aesthetic choice that turned heads and sparked debate in the prototype.

The shift to a four-door grand tourer design helps these proportions land with more authority. though the signature hot Miami pink finish from the concept is nowhere to be found. Inside, the cabin favors tactile luxury, featuring brass detailing and leather throughout. The driver faces a 24-inch OLED display. while passengers manage climate. audio. and seat settings through 7-inch smartphone-style screens located in the central spine. With the rear window sacrificed for a panoramic soundbar. the car relies on a rear-facing camera feed displayed on a screen that rises from the dash.

Beneath the surface, the performance metrics place the Type 01 as the most powerful road car in the company’s history. Three electric motors—one at the front and two in the rear—combine to generate 1,016 horsepower and 1,365Nm of torque. This translates to a 0-62mph sprint in 3.2 seconds, with the ability to hit 112mph just 4.0 seconds later. Powering this setup is a 118kWh battery engineered for a 400-mile range. with 350kW DC charging capable of restoring 200 miles of range in 13 minutes.

The path from the Type 00’s controversial debut to the Type 01’s production reality highlights a brand betting its future on a singular. divisive aesthetic vision. While the design sparked friction within the leadership ranks earlier this year. the engineering team has largely protected the original concept’s visual identity. betting that the sheer technical capability of the drivetrain will silence any lingering critiques regarding the styling.

Prospective owners face a wait, as orders are not expected to open until early 2027. Deliveries are slated for the second half of that year. While full pricing remains under wraps. Jaguar has launched a registration portal for interested buyers. confirming that at least one variant will carry a price tag of $130. 500.
