International drug network exposed: 76 foreigners detained in Kazakhstan

Misryoum reports that Kazakhstan detained 76 foreign nationals in cases linked to illegal drug trafficking, including alleged supply and smuggling.

A major operation targeting an international drug trail has led to dozens of arrests in Kazakhstan, with authorities reporting 76 foreign nationals detained in drug-related cases.

According to Misryoum, Kazakhstan’s interior ministry said that between January and April, 76 foreign citizens were detained over offenses connected to the illegal trafficking of narcotics.. The cases include allegations that some individuals were involved in selling drugs, while others were suspected of storage on a large scale and of involvement in smuggling.

The breakdown also points to a wider pattern rather than isolated incidents, suggesting that investigators are looking at networks that move drugs across borders and channels.

Misryoum reports that police activity covered both domestic and international angles. Authorities also identified cases that involved foreign participants in cultivation, as well as in advertising and promoting drugs.

In coordination with overseas partners, Misryoum says one suspect was detained abroad after being placed on a wanted list. Investigators allege that the person remotely organized the production of synthetic drugs in Karaganda.

This kind of cross-border work matters because it can disrupt supply chains that rely on distance and remote coordination.

In Astana, Misryoum reports that police stopped alleged activity by a 32-year-old citizen of a European country.. Authorities said the suspect was working as a so-called “wholesale marker,” and that seized materials were found in a rented apartment, including 1.5 kilograms of synthetic and cannabis-type drugs.

In Almaty, a 44-year-old man from Eastern Europe was detained, with authorities reporting the seizure of 1.2 kilograms of A-PVP.. In Aktau, Misryoum says police stopped a 21-year-old woman from a neighboring border state accused of distributing narcotics through so-called “drop” methods; 30 grams of mephedrone were reportedly found.

Misryoum adds that officials say these measures helped stop distribution channels and limit the spread of banned substances, including among young people.

In this context, the arrests serve as a reminder that drug investigations increasingly rely on coordination across regions and countries, not just local detective work.
