Guernsey actors invited to audition for Hollywood Occupation film

A Guernsey-born director is scouting the island for local talent for a Hollywood Occupation film, with auditions in St Peter Port on 10 May.
Casting calls are coming to Guernsey as a Hollywood Occupation film sets its sights on local talent.
Misryoum reports that the Guernsey-born director behind the Copsogue films will be on the island this Liberation weekend, scouting locations and looking to cast island-grown actors. Three specific roles are being targeted for auditions, each tied to key scenes with the lead characters.
“These three roles are integral to the story, and all have key scenes with the lead characters, so I’m really pleased we can cast these with people from Guernsey,” the director said.. “Having grown up in Guernsey, I know there is an amazing wealth of creative talent on the island, so I’m really excited to see our first local actors.”
The auditions will take place in person between 3pm and 5pm on Sunday, 10 May, in St Peter Port.
In practical terms, applicants are asked to upload a headshot and an acting CV in PDF format through the application link provided by Misryoum. The production says it will also be casting additional roles later in the year, along with extras for various crowd scenes.
What’s notable here is how the project is building its casting around island identity and language, which can make local performances feel central rather than incidental.
For those auditioning, the film is seeking a weathered Guernsey local (Julie’s husband), described as strong, stoic, and deeply rooted in the island, with a neutral/Guernsey accent and a playing age of 55–65.
It is also looking for a well-built upper-middle-class lady, Gordon’s wife, portrayed as polite, caring, and warm, again with a neutral/Guernsey accent and a playing age of 50–60.
The third role is a rugged market trader, practical, resilient, and quietly defiant.. This character speaks in both English and Guernésiais, so the production says some familiarity with Guernésiais, or the ability to learn phonetically, will be useful.. The playing age is in the 40s, with a neutral/Guernsey accent.
Meanwhile, even for those not fitting the three descriptions exactly, Misryoum notes that further casting and extra opportunities are expected later in the year, giving other local performers and community members a chance to be involved.
For Guernsey actors, this kind of local-first casting can be a rare spotlight moment, especially when projects arrive with specific roles tailored to the island’s people and voices.
