Frontier Airlines Incident: Person Killed During LAX-Bound Takeoff

Frontier Airlines – A person was struck and killed during takeoff at Denver. The LAX-bound Frontier flight was evacuated as smoke was reported.

A Frontier Airlines flight headed to Los Angeles turned into a deadly emergency as a person was struck during takeoff at Denver International Airport.

Misryoum reports that the incident unfolded Friday night when air traffic controllers alerted colleagues about someone walking on the runway. Moments later, controllers reported that the person had been struck and killed.

In the aftermath, emergency personnel were directed to the runway area, and the flight was evacuated as a precaution.

This kind of runway emergency is rare, but when it happens it can quickly reshape what passengers believe is a routine departure. It also underscores how tightly coordinated airport operations must be when the unexpected occurs.

Reports shared with Misryoum indicate that Frontier’s Airbus A321 flight, bound for LAX and designated as flight 4345, had 224 passengers and seven crew members onboard. The individual’s identity has not been released.

Frontier also said smoke was observed in the cabin after the person was struck, prompting a controlled evacuation using slides. The airline said it is “deeply saddened by this event,” while adding that—aside from the deceased—only minor injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, a pilot reportedly confirmed hitting someone and noted an engine fire, which Denver International Airport said was quickly extinguished by the Denver Fire Department. The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 11 p.m. local time.

Misryoum further notes that the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the circumstances, alongside Frontier, Denver International Airport, and local authorities.

At the end of the day, what matters most is accountability and prevention. For travelers, these events remind everyone that safety checks and emergency readiness are non-negotiable, even when the departure feels ordinary.
