Dual Miracles: Two Running Backs Make History Sunday

In a rare display of late-game dominance, Kyren Williams and Kenneth Walker achieved a feat not seen in the NFL since 2016.

The clock was ticking toward a loss, but Kyren Williams refused to let the Rams fall. With 3:59 left on the clock. he found the end zone. and just under three minutes later. at the 1:10 mark. he did it again. That second rushing touchdown completed a fourth-quarter comeback against the Eagles. etching his name into a statistical category that had remained untouched for a decade.

Then, the impossible happened twice in a single afternoon.

Hours after Williams’ heroics, Kenneth Walker took the field in Las Vegas. The Chiefs were trailing. but the game shifted violently in their favor when Walker scored on a two-yard run with 3:21 remaining to take the lead. A fumbled kickoff by the Raiders handed the ball right back to Kansas City. and on the very next play. Walker surged for a 22-yard touchdown that effectively ended the contest. Within the span of three hours. two different players had managed what no one in the league had accomplished since 2016: scoring two rushing touchdowns in the final four minutes of a fourth quarter.

The last time a player achieved this level of late-game production was November 20, 2016. Washington running back Rob Kelley, an undrafted rookie who had unexpectedly claimed the starting role, dismantled the Green Bay Packers. Kelley scored twice in the closing minutes—at 3:54 and 2:26—capping off a career-best performance of 137 yards on 24 carries and three total touchdowns. His career. however. would wind down just two years later. a sharp contrast to the established status of Williams and Walker. who have anchored their respective backfields for years.

While Williams and Walker are known quantities at the top of their position. the sheer statistical anomaly of their performance serves as a reminder of how quickly a game can turn. To have two separate players pull off such a feat on the same Sunday highlights the razor-thin margin between a standard win and a historic finish.
