Deuce Jones-Drew, a running back from De La Salle, pledges to UCLA as the class of 2027 continues to take shape.
UCLA is adding another Jones-Drew to its future backfield, with Deuce Jones-Drew making his commitment to the Bruins.
The running back, who attends De La Salle High School in California, plans to enroll at UCLA as part of the class of 2027. Misryoum reports he chose the Bruins over Arizona and Cal after trimming a longer list of potential programs down to his final options.
At this stage of his development, Deuce is listed around 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds. Like many high school backs stepping up to the college game, his frame suggests a need for added strength and weight to handle the physical demands of the next level.
For UCLA, this commitment extends a family connection to the program. Deuce’s father, Maurice Jones-Drew, played at UCLA from 2003 to 2005 and earned unanimous All-American honors before entering the NFL.
Maurice went on to become a standout pro. including multiple 1. 000-yard rushing seasons and a peak year that included leading the NFL in rushing.. His résumé also features Pro Bowl selections and first-team All-Pro recognition. accomplishments that help explain why Deuce’s decision carries more than recruiting-cycle significance.
Misryoum also notes that Deuce is a three-star prospect. UCLA’s effort to bring him in is tied to first-year head coach Bob Chesney and running backs coach A.J. Steward, who remains on staff from Deshaun Foster’s group.
