Conor McGregor Touts Drawing Power Ahead of Planned 2027 UFC Return

Conor McGregor remains convinced that his financial drawing power surpasses every major figure in combat sports, asserting that his commercial reach outpaces boxing and mixed martial arts rivals alike.

The former two-division champion took to social media following a weekend boxing match featuring Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli. While Alvarez has long been regarded as boxing’s premier box-office attraction, McGregor argued that his own career metrics stand unmatched.

“How many views did the Canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate?” McGregor wrote on social media. “Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined. I don’t even be trying.”

McGregor pointed to past pay-per-view achievements to support his claims. He currently holds the record for the highest-selling pay-per-view event in UFC history with his matchup against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Beyond mixed martial arts, his high-profile boxing match against Floyd Mayweather ranks among the highest-grossing combat sports events in history, trailing only Mayweather’s bout against Manny Pacquiao.

Reflecting on his previous appearances, the Irish fighter emphasized that his commercial success often transcended external competition, noting that one of his recent bouts ran concurrently with a World Cup semifinal while still generating substantial audience figures.

McGregor is currently sidelined as he continues his recovery from ACL surgery on his knee. Despite the enforced hiatus, which he noted leaves him waiting several months before a comeback is possible, the fighter is already looking toward his next appearance.

Targeting a return during International Fight Week in 2027, McGregor revealed plans to actively promote his upcoming appearance to test the limits of his commercial potential. The anticipated bout is slated to serve as the final fight on his current UFC contract, giving him a specific platform to attempt to break his own established sales records.

“I’m going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one,” McGregor stated. “My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records.”
