Misryoum reports that Colorado is bracing for a significant storm beginning Tuesday. carrying winter storm warnings through Wednesday in areas that also include parts of neighboring Wyoming.. The expectation in the Denver metro area is a snowfall amount ranging from about 2 to 6 inches. starting Tuesday night and extending into Wednesday.
With seasonal swings already underway, the timing of this storm matters for everything from road conditions to how quickly snowpack can replenish across the higher elevations.
For the Central Rocky Mountains. forecasts point to much heavier accumulation. with the possibility of 1 to 2 feet of snow in some locations.. The contrast is stark: while Colorado has seen notably low snowpack this season. a late-season push could bring a much-needed boost to mountain reservoirs and future meltwater.
Even as temperatures shift quickly, the state’s backdrop is changing fast. Denver recently climbed into the mid-70s before the forecast drops it back into the lower 40s on Tuesday, underscoring the abrupt feel of “winter in May” across the Front Range.

Meanwhile, a pulse of colder air is expected to spread into the Midwest and Great Lakes on Wednesday, bringing temperatures below seasonal norms. In Chicago, for example, a warm start gives way to a much cooler forecast for Tuesday.
Farther south. attention turns to weather systems that could bring severe storms across parts of Texas and Arkansas on Tuesday. with the primary risks described as large hail. damaging winds. and isolated tornadoes.. Across much of the South. a wider rain event is also expected. with amounts forecast to land in a range that could provide relief where drought has been a concern.
