Bunnings launches $10 limited edition pet hoodies for dogs

Bunnings has rolled out something a little different for the season: $10 limited edition pet hoodies, made to help support dog adoptions across Australia.
The idea is simple, and kind of clever. More than 8,300 dogs are currently listed for adoption, and these hoodies—available in sizes from small to XXL—are a “first time” move for Bunnings in the pet merchandise space. They’re exclusively sold in stores while stocks last, which is a phrase you can practically hear as you’re walking past the aisles.
It’s all tied to a campaign called Stores for Paws, which raises money for PetRescue, a national welfare charity connecting animals with their forever home. Misryoum newsroom reporting says it’s specifically meant to bring much-needed attention and funding into an area that’s feeling the pressure.
PetRescue’s CEO Patima Tantiprasut said Stores for Paws plays a massive role in supporting pets. She pointed to increased demand and strain right now—financial hardship, food and housing insecurity, and big life changes for many Australians. And yes, those pressures don’t stay human-only. “…directly impacting outcomes for pets too,” she said, framing how the reality of day-to-day survival can ripple into animal welfare. It’s also why she argued that community support initiatives like this are “vital,” not just for awareness and funding, but for helping to keep pets safe and sound in loving homes.
Misryoum editorial desk noted that PetRescue will use funds raised from the initiative to keep its platform free of charge for members across Australia. Local animal welfare organisations, meanwhile, will use the money for food and medical treatment. The costs are big—hundreds of thousands of dollars a day to look after the thousands of animals—so this kind of community push matters, even if the hoodie itself only costs ten bucks.
The hoodies have $2 from every sale donated, and they’re not the only part of the weekend. Bunnings stores across the country will host local rescue organisations and shelters from April 17 to 19. Expect sausage sizzles, pet adoption days, and a free pet-themed DIY workshop for kids. There will also be giveaways and treats for pets who come along—tiny moments, but they add up. I can already picture the sound of shopfront chatter blending with that familiar, warm scent of snacks from somewhere nearby.
Misryoum analysis suggests this is also about turning everyday store visits into something more supportive. Michelle Walter, Bunnings’ head of community, partnerships and events, said the brand has always loved pets. Misryoum newsroom reporting includes her line about customers bringing dogs into stores and using that love for real support—for meeting adoptable pets, backing a local fundraiser, or picking up a hoodie. Stores for Paws, she said, celebrates the work local rescue groups do while helping more pets find safe, loving homes. And honestly, even if you’re not a “hoodie person,” the calendar date and the in-store events might pull you in anyway—just don’t wait too long, because stocks last is, well, stocks last.
