Big Bullets Target Derby Redemption Against Wanderers

Mighty Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets prepare for a high-stakes Blantyre derby at Bingu National Stadium, with Bullets seeking to break a four-game winless streak.
All eyes will be on the Blantyre derby as Mighty Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets lock horns in the FDH Bank Premiership at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe Sunday.. Tension is steadily building as this will be the second derby in one month after the two sides met in the NBS Bank Charity Shield in which Wanderers claimed a 1-0 win at the same venue.. Much as the pressure will be on both sides
as they have contrasting missions, but it is Bullets who have a lot to prove to break their four-game winless run in the Blantyre derby in all competitions.. Wanderers, on the other hand, want to maintain their recent dominance having won four consecutive derbies in all competitions without conceding a goal against their rivals.. Last season, the Nomads defeated Bullets 1-0 in the first round before a 3-0 victory in the second round at Kamuzu
Stadium.. Wanderers also beat Bullets 1-0 in the FDH Bank Cup semi-final at the same venue.. The match is a perfect opportunity for Bullets coach Gilbert Chirwa to prove his worth after mixed fortunes in the opening two matches of the campaign.. Bullets started the season with a 2-2 stalemate with Civil Service United at Civo Stadium before a 1-0 victory over Mafco at Joyce Chitsulo Stadium in Mwanza District last week.. Their performance has
been a major concern in the early stages of the season having signed several players such as Clever Kalambo, Dastan Banda, Emmanuel Kaunga and Maclean Mwale.. Chirwa said his charges have responded well to his training tactics ahead of the derby.. “We started our training on Tuesday to correct areas which we feel we did not do well when we met them.. We are expecting a tough match again, but the boys are ready, and
this time around we will change the result,” he said Bullets will miss the services of Mike Mkwate, Chrispin Mapemba, Frank Willard and Ahmad Kung’unde.. Wanderers, on the other hand, have played one game in the league after their initial opener against Karonga United was postponed following the impasse which happened at the banned Kamuzu Stadium.. Due to disagreements over the usage of the ground, which failed to meet minimum requirements to host elite matches..
The Nomads beat Creck Sporting Club 2-1at Aubrey Dimba last week.. Assistant coach MacDonald Mtetemera said their mission is to collect maximum points tomorrow.. “We expect a tough match as usual but we have told the players not to relax.. We are prepared for the match,” he said.. The match will be played under floodlights.. The match will mark the official launch of the FDH Bank Premiership which kicked off two weeks ago.. Meanwhile, Super
League of Malawi (Sulom) has issued a stern warning that selling beverages in glass bottles is prohibited at all matches.. “No selling of beverages in glass bottles, including alcoholic drinks will be around inside or around the stadium,” the statement reads.. “Selling of alcohol by minors is strictly prohibited.. Any violation of these measures shall lead to arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law.” The league governing body has said no free entry will
be allowed during the final minutes of the FDH Bank Premiership.
