Bay Bridge Riders Seized as Police Crack Down on Takeovers

Misryoum reports police trapped dozens of dirt bikes on the Bay Bridge after street takeovers across the Bay Area.

A horde of dirt bikes and ATVs was trapped on the Bay Bridge as police moved in to stop an unruly street takeover that had spread across the San Francisco Bay Area.

According to Misryoum, more than 70 vehicles were seized during Sunday’s operation, after riders reportedly abandoned their bikes and tried to flee on foot. Some were taken into custody while others were not, as officers said they avoided pursuits in line with department policies.

What happened on the bridge was the culmination of a broader effort that police framed as targeted enforcement, not a one-off response. It highlights how quickly local street chaos can evolve into coordinated disruption affecting major roadways and public safety.

Police described a two-month investigation aimed at a group they said included both riders and organizers.. Misryoum reports the activity began in San Leandro before moving toward east Oakland. with complaints coming in as the group took over streets and intersections and. at times. conducted dangerous stunts.

As the group traveled toward San Francisco, Misryoum says Oakland police and other agencies coordinated to close off access routes. Bay Bridge closures left riders with few options, and police then trapped the group and carried out vehicle seizures.

In this context, the operation underscores how law enforcement approaches major disruptions: planning in advance can reduce the chance that a chaotic situation escalates on high-traffic infrastructure.

Oakland Police Department interim leadership said the investigation is ongoing, warning that people who evaded arrest should not expect the matter to fade. Misryoum reports that warrants could follow, and additional cases may be pursued as evidence continues to be reviewed.

Officials said 77 vehicles were seized and multiple arrests were made. with the range of charges reflecting the seriousness police attributed to the conduct.. Misryoum also reports that some riders fled into areas that complicated apprehension. including an incident in which one person reportedly entered the water and later was detained.

Finally, Misryoum notes officials encouraged anyone who believed they were injured during the event to come forward. That message matters because public safety and accountability depend on accurate reporting, especially when large groups scatter during operations.
