Andaz Lisbon opens in Baixa with views

One of the most anticipated hotel openings of the year, the Andaz Lisbon, has finally opened its doors to guests.

Set in Lisbon’s charming Baixa neighborhood, the hotel overlooks Praça do Comércio and puts visitors close to some of the city’s most desirable areas. It also comes with the usual loyalty allure: you can earn and burn valuable World of Hyatt points while you’re there—because, yes, people do plan trips around that.

Inside, the property spans 170 rooms and suites, and its look is meant to feel like Lisbon without going full theme park. There are cork accents, layers of textures, and traditional Portuguese craftsmanship woven through the design. Then it pivots—almost intentionally—into the present with immersive digital art, 55-inch TVs in the rooms, and luxury Byredo bath products. Walking in on day one, you’d probably notice the clean, retail-sharp scent you get from fresh linen and new amenities—small detail, sure, but it sets the tone.

Food is the next big selling point, and the hotel’s main restaurant, Luzzi, leans into traditional Lusitanian cuisine. The menu is described as “inspired by the cultures and geographies that shaped Portugal,” and the offerings sound both familiar and a little playful: catch of the day wrapped in banana leaf, shrimp dumplings in tucupi broth, and small plates made for sharing. There’s also Z Terrace, the restaurant’s rooftop bar, built for that rooftop evening vibe—curated music included.

From morning to night, the Andaz Lounge keeps things moving. It’s part coffee shop, part lobby bar, and it’s open so guests can hydrate (and yeah, it also doubles as a sleek place to sit and people-watch). If you like a hotel that gives you options without making you commit to anything, this is that kind of setup.

For workouts, the Andaz Lisbon offers a state-of-the-art fitness center with equipment from Technogym. The twist is that it’s designed to let users create a fitness tracking account that can travel with them between hotels. And at a later date, the hotel will open a spa—plus offer in-room spa services. Not sure when “later” becomes a calendar date, but the promise is there.

Rates aren’t shy, either. Opening rates at Andaz Lisbon start around $444 per night. As a World of Hyatt Category 6 property, award nights start from 21,000 points per night.

“From our iconic city-center location, guests are invited to explore, connect, and immerse themselves in the rhythm of our city,” said Cajetan Araujo, the hotel’s general manager in a statement. “At Andaz Lisbon, each stay is shaped by authentic local experiences and the heartfelt warmth that defines Portuguese hospitality.”

If you’re weighing whether to book now, the basic answer seems to be simple: it’s opened, it’s positioned well, and it has enough design, dining, and loyalty hooks to keep plenty of travelers interested—at least for the first wave of hype. And then after that, people will start asking what the spa is really like… or maybe they won’t, depending on how long that rooftop bar music keeps them there.
