AEA General Secretary Boosts Partnership with AEL in Liberia

Rev. Dr. Master Matlhaope visits Liberia to strengthen ties with the Association of Evangelicals of Liberia and discuss the church's role in society.
Monrovia, Liberia – The General Secretary of the Association of Evangelicals of Africa (AEA) has arrived in Liberia as a guest of the Association of Evangelicals of Liberia (AEL), in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between the continental evangelical body and its Liberian counterpart.. Speaking to the media ahead of the visit, AEL President Bishop Robert S.M.. Bimba said the visit marks an important opportunity to deepen ties between the two organizations and reinforce
cooperation with partners and stakeholders.. According to Bishop Bimba, the AEA General Secretary is expected to hold meetings with members of AEL, the organization’s Board of Governance, and other key stakeholders during his stay in Liberia.. He noted that discussions will focus on enhancing collaboration in areas including evangelism, leadership development, advocacy, peacebuilding, and humanitarian support.. As part of the visit, the AEA official is scheduled to serve as keynote speaker at the Thanksgiving and
Induction Ceremony on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.. The program will be held at the Voice of Pentecost Compassion Center, opposite the Ministry of Health in Congo Town.. The Association of Evangelicals of Liberia described the occasion as a significant gathering for the Christian community and encouraged members, partners, and the public to attend.. AEL remains one of Liberia’s largest Christian umbrella organizations, providing services in evangelism, capacity building, relief assistance, advocacy, and
peace building initiatives across the country.. Meanwhile, the AEA General Secretary, Rev.. Dr.. Master Matlhaope described his visit to Liberia as the fulfillment of a long-held dream to meet and fellowship with believers in the country while emphasizing the church’s role in sustaining national unity and values.. Speaking upon his arrival, the AEA official compared his feelings to those expressed by the Apostle Paul in the introduction to the Book of Romans, where Paul spoke
of his desire to visit and encourage fellow Christians.. He said he had wished for many years to come to Liberia to share fellowship, encouragement, and grace with fellow believers.. “This is a dream and a desire fulfilled,” he stated, adding that he looks forward not only to encouraging Liberian Christians but also to being encouraged by them.. Addressing the wider role of the church in society, the AEA General Secretary described the church as
“the centerpiece that holds the nation together.” According to him, every nation aspires to freedom, but true freedom cannot exist without values, and values cannot be sustained without the influence of the church.. “In the nation, we all have aspirations of freedom.. But you cannot have freedom without values, and you cannot have values without a church,” he said.. He further stressed that the church plays a critical role in nation-building by promoting moral principles
and values that strengthen unity and give meaning to freedom.. “The church contributes to nationhood by providing the values that hold the nation together and give freedom meaning,” he added.
