Actor and singer Donnie Wahlberg and seven other passengers and crew members escaped injury on Sunday when the private jet carrying them skidded off a runway at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas and collided with a perimeter fence.
The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. as the aircraft attempted to depart following Wahlberg’s performance in Las Vegas with the pop group New Kids on the Block. According to airport officials, the general aviation aircraft slid off runway 1L and made direct contact with the airport boundary structure. Airport authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported immediately following the accident.
Wahlberg took to social media on Sunday to address concerned inquiries from fans and friends, sharing a video he had originally recorded for his personal circle. He confirmed that he was onboard alongside his team and friends, describing a tense sequence of events during the aborted takeoff.
“It was a rather intense few moments, which felt like a few long minutes,” Wahlberg stated in his post. He explained that the plane never managed to become airborne before running out of runway space, narrowly missing service trucks and other heavy equipment stationed in the area.
“We’re all okay. I’m okay,” Wahlberg said. “We were taking off and didn’t get up in the air and ran out of runway. I’m just going to tell you these pilots saved our lives. God covered us. I’m not sure how many fences we avoided, we didn’t avoid the last one.”
In his written caption, the performer expressed profound gratitude to the flight crew for averting what he characterized as a serious disaster. He noted that while the aircraft sustained visible damage during the skid, all the human occupants emerged physically unharmed.
“The airplane did take some lumps — but we did not,” he wrote. Wahlberg also extended his appreciation to the ground emergency personnel who responded to the scene, describing their assistance as absolutely wonderful.
