Culture and Lifestyle Publication Upstream Expands Roster With Four New Columnists

The Daily Wire’s lifestyle and culture section, Upstream, is expanding its lineup by adding four new regular columnists following eight months of operation. The digital publication covers a range of cultural news and lifestyle trends, from wellness and consumer habits to media criticism and family life.

Editor in chief Brent Scher noted that the vertical has drawn audience engagement since its launch. To build on that momentum, the publication has appointed four contributors to write regular columns addressing parenting, health, film, literature, marriage, and family values.

Bethany Mandel joins the roster as a bimonthly columnist focusing on homeschooling, digital-age parenting, and parental rights. Mandel, a homeschooling mother of six and co-author of Stolen Youth: How Radicals Are Erasing Innocence and Indoctrinating a Generation, authored Upstream’s inaugural piece regarding weight-loss medication side effects. She is also a podcast co-host, media contributor, and writer whose background includes regular columns for other outlets. She resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, with her husband and children.

Jordan Jantz steps in as a weekly health columnist centered on the “Make America Healthy Again” movement. Jantz has previously addressed sleep hygiene, social media disengagement, and the protein trend, offering wellness tips and analyses of health media trends. A freelance writer and assistant editor at IW Features, Jantz holds degrees from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and an MFA in creative writing.

Riley, who studied modern history at Oxford and earned a Ph.D. in medieval history from the University of Reading, has written on contemporary culture, the romance-fantasy genre, and generational entertainment trends. Her essays appear in various publications across the United States and the United Kingdom.

Elizabeth Grace Matthew joins as a weekly columnist covering marriage, motherhood, education, and culture from a Philadelphia base. Matthew is a mother of four and a former university professor and administrator whose writing has addressed topics such as dating approaches, family life, and modern feminism. Her commentary has appeared across numerous national publications and broadcast outlets.
