Westminster Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder After Parents and Family Dog Found Stabbed to Death

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police discovered his elderly parents and the family dog stabbed to death inside a Westminster residence.

Officers with the Westminster Police Department responded to the home located in the 13500 block of Sutter Drive on Monday evening. Authorities reported that the response was initiated following a telephone call from an individual stating they had killed someone.

Upon arrival at the property, law enforcement officers encountered Benjamin Hoang, who had blood on his hands. Officers immediately detained Hoang and proceeded to conduct a search of the residence. Inside, they located two adult victims suffering from severe stab wounds. The victims, identified by police as an 80-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman who were Hoang’s parents, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities withheld their identities pending the notification of next of kin.

In addition to the human victims, officers executing the search discovered the family’s dog dead inside the home, also bearing fatal stab wounds.

Following the initial discovery, detectives from the Westminster Police Department assumed control of the inquiry and classified the incident as a double homicide. Investigators and forensic services technicians remained at the Sutter Drive residence overnight to execute a search warrant and gather physical evidence.

Hoang was subsequently booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder. Law enforcement officials stated that no further details regarding a potential motive or the specific circumstances leading up to the violence are currently available as the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have urged anyone possessing additional information regarding the incident to contact Detective Chavez at (714) 548-3797 or to reach out to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
