Westbrook Studios and The Malar Group have announced the development of “215. ” a scripted coming-of-age series that captures the formative years of Will Smith’s rap career and the ascent of the iconic duo. DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince.
Set against the backdrop of late-1980s West Philadelphia. the project follows a quick-witted teenage rapper and his DJ best friend as they navigate the city’s burgeoning hip-hop scene. The narrative centers on their gritty pursuit of a record deal and the circle of friends who propelled them forward. Beyond the music. the story aims to capture the transition of hip-hop from local block parties to a mainstream phenomenon led by a group of determined kids from the 215 area code.
