Vasilevskiy Ties Milestone as Flyers Stumble Through Winless Start

Andrei Vasilevskiy stepped off the ice with his 372nd career victory, a milestone that moved him into a tie with Andy Moog on the NHL’s all-time wins list. He now sits just two wins shy of John Vanbiesbrouck, who holds 19th place.

While Vasilevskiy reached the mark, the Philadelphia Flyers remained stuck in a cycle of frustration. They have now opened their season with an 0-2-2 record—the first time the franchise has been winless through four games since 2013-14. Across each of those four appearances. the team has struggled to generate offense. failing to score more than two goals in a single outing.

Brayden Point initiated the scoring for the Lightning at 16:05 of the first period, redirecting a wrist shot from John Carlson. The lead doubled just 17 seconds into the second period when Holmberg capitalized on an odd-man rush. Though Tyson Foerster managed to pull Philadelphia within one at 7:22 of the second after his shot deflected off Tampa Bay defenseman Charle-Edouard D’Astous. the Flyers could find no further momentum.

Mikheyev extended the Tampa Bay lead to 3-1 with a wraparound effort with three minutes left in the game, and Brandon Hagel sealed the win with an empty-netter. Dan Vladar finished the night with 32 saves for Philadelphia in the loss.

The game also marked a shift in the career totals for Nikita Kucherov, whose two assists brought his career point total to 1,128. He has now surpassed both Mike Bossy and Joe Nieuwendyk to claim 67th place on the all-time list.

For the Flyers. Denver Barkey finally saw his first action of the season. making his debut after sitting out the first three games due to an undisclosed lower-body injury. As the teams look toward Thursday night. the Flyers head to Ottawa to face the Senators. while the Lightning return home to host the Minnesota Wild.
