Ultrahuman Adds On-Demand Heart Scans To Wearable Lineup

Ultrahuman Heart – Ultrahuman users can now perform 60-second heart rhythm spot checks using their smartphone camera, provided by a new partnership with FibriCheck.
The notification arrived for users yesterday: the silence of a wearable monitoring your vitals in the background is no longer the only way to track heart health. Ultrahuman has officially partnered with FibriCheck to launch Heart Scan, moving beyond passive sleep tracking into active, on-demand diagnostics.
For owners of the Ring Air and Ring Pro, the process is deliberate. When a user feels an irregularity. they must open the Ultrahuman app and hold their finger steady over their smartphone camera for 60 seconds. FibriCheck’s algorithm analyzes the optical data, generating a clinical-grade PDF. This document offers a recording of the event itself, providing healthcare professionals with raw data rather than a summarized report.
This functionality serves as an expansion of the existing Atrial Fibrillation add-on, which previously limited rhythm monitoring to nighttime hours. The new spot-check feature is now included in the Afib Power Plug subscription; if you already pay for the service, there is no additional cost.
Technological safeguards often feel abstract until they are tested by reality. A recent event serves as a stark reminder of the stakes involved: a 40-year-old man experienced sudden atrial fibrillation while driving to work. He lost consciousness, crashing his car with two colleagues inside. With no prior history of heart issues and no awareness of being at risk. he is now recovering with a newly fitted pacemaker—a life-altering necessity that caught him entirely off guard.
The integration is limited to specific regions for now. rolling out only in supported markets across the UK. Europe. the Middle East. and the Asia-Pacific. As the technology moves into the hands of more users. the shift from routine sleep observation to intentional. on-demand scanning marks a change in how wearable devices are expected to handle urgent health concerns.
