TGL’s Motor City Golf Club lands Jackson Koivun to pair with Brooks Koepka
Brooks Koepka has his first Motor City teammate.
Motor City Golf Club added Jackson Koivun on Monday, pairing the 21-year-old with Koepka for the team’s first TGL season in 2027. Koepka signed on as the their first player in late August.
The club’s social post led with four words: “WE GOT THE KID.”
Koivun left Auburn a year early to turn pro in June. After almost four months in the pro ranks, he is off to a hot start.
In his third pro start, he won the 3M Open by three shots over Scottie Scheffler, closing with a bogey-free 66 to set the tournament scoring record at 25 under. Brandt Snedeker then made him the final captain’s pick for the U.S. Presidents Cup team, where Koivun went 2-0-1. He beat Si Woo Kim 2 up in singles after trailing early, and the Americans rallied from three points down on Sunday to win 17-13.
Motor City team governor Michael Hamp said Koivun proved at Medinah that he is “built for the big moments.”
Team golf is familiar ground for Koivun. He was a member of the victorious 2025 Walker Cup team and won NCAA team titles with Auburn in 2024 and 2026. No player before him had swept the Haskins, Hogan and Nicklaus awards twice.
He has also seen TGL up close. Koivun said a visit to SoFi Center was unlike anything he had experienced in golf, and he wants to “help build a team Detroit can passionately support.”
Motor City now has a five-time major champion and one of the best young players in golf to build around. The rest of the roster has not been announced.
