Teenager Killed in Harlem Shooting Near King Towers Complex
Harlem shooting – A 15-year-old boy is dead and a 57-year-old bystander is recovering after a shooting outside a Harlem public housing complex Wednesday evening.
The evening commute turned violent Wednesday when a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet outside the King Towers NYCHA complex on West 115th Street. At 6:21 p.m., the city’s ShotSpotter system alerted police to the scene, where officers arrived to find two victims grappling with gunshot wounds.
Jihad Pack, 15, had been struck in the stomach. Emergency responders rushed him to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition, but he did not survive his injuries.
A 57-year-old man, caught in the crossfire as an innocent bystander, was also hit. He sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he remains in stable condition.
The violence unfolded in a dense, residential section of Manhattan. By the time the police presence had stabilized the area. one person of interest had been taken into custody at the scene.
