Successful Cataract Surgery Performed on More Than 1,600 Patients

More than 1,600 patients have undergone successful cataract surgeries following investments in medical resources and healthcare collaboration.

Medical professionals have successfully performed cataract surgery on 1,650 patients following substantial investments in human resources and medical equipment by the Ministry of Health.

The surgical procedures were carried out across the sub-zones of Tesenay, Golij, and Akordet through a collaborative effort involving Berhan Aini Referral Hospital and the Ministry of Health branch in the Gash Barka Region.

Dr. Eyob Beyn, an eye surgeon and coordinator of the program, stated that more than 2,000 patients from the Mensura, Mogolo, and Akordet sub-zones underwent eye examinations and received necessary medical care at Akordet Hospital.

Dr. Eyob urged members of the public to visit health facilities promptly if they experience symptoms of eye problems and to follow medical advice closely. He also acknowledged the support of local administrators and other partners in implementing the program.

Patients who benefited from the initiative reported that the successful surgeries successfully restored their vision.
