Skydance Closes $110 Billion Deal Reshaping Global Media Landscape

Skydance Warner – Following a year of intense negotiations, the $110 billion Paramount-Warner Bros. merger has officially closed, placing massive media assets under the control of Skydance.
The ink dried today on a $110 billion deal that effectively redraws the boundaries of the entertainment industry. After nearly a year of regulatory hurdles and persistent opposition, the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. has reached its conclusion, handing full control of two of the world’s largest film studios to Skydance.
The scale of this new media empire is difficult to overstate. Under the Skydance banner. the company now commands iconic intellectual properties including Harry Potter. DC. Game of Thrones. Lord of the Rings. Mission: Impossible. Star Trek. Looney Tunes. and SpongeBob SquarePants. The portfolio extends deep into television and cable. consolidating CBS. CNN. MTV. Comedy Central. TNT. Adult Swim. Cartoon Network. and Nickelodeon. Both HBO Max and Paramount Plus now operate under the same corporate roof.
For investors and the public, the transition began immediately. Shares in Warner Bros. Discovery ceased trading on the NASDAQ today. while Skydance began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SKYD. The company now claims a total annual revenue of nearly $70 billion. However. the ambition of this consolidation comes with a stark financial reality: the new entity is saddled with $80 billion in debt.
Skydance CEO David Ellison. who founded his initial production company in 2006. opted to carry that brand name forward for this massive new enterprise. Last summer. Skydance successfully acquired Paramount in an $8 billion deal. managing to fend off competition from Netflix to secure the path that led to today’s finalization.
“Today is a historic day, not just for Skydance but for our entire industry,” Ellison said in a statement. “From the start. our ambition was to bring these two storied studios together and create a stronger competitor. with the talent. resources. and reach to tell great stories in every genre. on every platform. for audiences everywhere. Now that ambition is a reality.”.
The sheer volume of content promised by the new ownership is massive. Skydance has committed to producing 30 theatrical films and more than 180 television shows and series annually. The path forward remains defined by the tension between these aggressive production targets and the weight of the $80 billion debt load. a balance that will now dictate the direction of some of the most recognizable brands in media.
