Russian Security Forces Detain Minor Following US Tip-Off Over Moscow Park Threat

Russia’s Federal Security Service announced on Sunday that authorities had detained a Russian minor suspected of planning a terrorist attack at a public park in Moscow, an operation initiated after receiving a crucial intelligence warning from the United States.

According to reports from the Interfax news agency citing the FSB, Russian security officials received information on Saturday through established bilateral partner channels regarding preparations for an imminent attack in the capital. The warning prompted immediate countermeasures, including the temporary closure on Saturday of Tsaritsyno, a sprawling palace museum and park complex located in southern Moscow.

The investigation intensified after authorities identified suspicious online activity linked to the suspect. The minor had shared photographs on TikTok depicting himself dressed in tactical gear and a balaclava while brandishing an object resembling an automatic weapon. Additional images posted from the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve were accompanied by the caption, “I found a place,” as cited by Interfax from the security service’s official statement.

During subsequent searches of the teenager’s residence, law enforcement officers recovered the specific clothing and accessories displayed in the social media imagery. An examination of the suspect’s mobile phone revealed a subscription to a neo-Nazi channel on the Telegram messaging application, alongside a significant volume of internet searches related to terrorist attacks, mass killings, and other violent acts.

The FSB formally acknowledged the foreign intelligence cooperation in its public statement, noting, “We are grateful to the American side for providing the information.” Russia’s Investigative Committee is currently reviewing the evidence to determine appropriate legal and procedural actions against the detained minor.
