Nvidia RTX – Nvidia’s new RTX Spark-powered laptops are hitting the market this October, targeting high-end creators with configurations reaching nearly $7,000.
The sticker shock hits before you even open the lid. As the first laptops equipped with Nvidia’s new RTX Spark chips arrive, they bring with them a luxury price ceiling that signals a direct challenge to the high-end creative market.
By October 16th. consumers will see this new wave of hardware from manufacturers including Dell. Lenovo. MSI. HP. and Asus. alongside Microsoft’s own Surface Laptop Ultra. While entry-level models start at $2. 599—offering an 18-core CPU. 24GB of unified memory. and 512GB of storage—the cost scales aggressively from there.
Consider the Asus ProArt P16. A fully kitted-out configuration featuring a 20-core chip, 128GB of unified memory, and 2TB of storage commands a price of $6,999.99. Microsoft’s path remains slightly more opaque; while the Surface Laptop Ultra preorder page currently restricts users to an email sign-up list. a 48GB model is already listed on Best Buy at $3. 999.99.
These price points place the RTX Spark machines in a familiar, if rarefied, atmosphere. The entry-level $2. 599 configuration aligns closely with a 14-inch MacBook Pro running an M5 Pro chip. though the Apple hardware typically includes 1TB of storage compared to the 512GB offered by the baseline Spark models. The broader market for premium workstations remains volatile. as a 16-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 Max chip can still climb toward $10. 000 when fully maxed out.
This landscape is defined by a clash between necessity and cost. As creators and local AI users search for the raw power required for intensive workflows. they are met with the reality of ‘RAMageddon. ‘ where the rising cost of unified memory is pushing total machine prices into territory once reserved for specialized enterprise gear. Whether the performance gains of the RTX Spark architecture justify this steep financial commitment is a question that will be settled in the real-world testing labs starting later this month.
