Klint Kubiak Takes The Blame For Raiders Rushing Struggles
Following a loss to the Chiefs, head coach Klint Kubiak is shouldering the responsibility for the Raiders’ recent inability to establish an effective ground attack.
The momentum from a 130-yard rushing performance against the Dolphins in the season opener has evaporated. replaced by a reality check for the Las Vegas Raiders. After finishing dead last in rushing during the 2025 season. the team’s recent production—totaling just 242 yards over the past three weeks—has raised questions about whether those early-season gains were a mirage born of favorable matchups.
The decline is granular and concerning. Raiders running backs Ashton Jeanty and Mike Washington are currently averaging a measly 1.8 yards before contact. While the team managed a 3-0 start to mask these deficiencies, Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs forced the issue into the spotlight.
Klint Kubiak isn’t pointing fingers at his personnel. Facing a critical three-game stretch against the Patriots, Bills, and Rams, the head coach is redirecting the pressure inward.
“I put it on myself,” Kubiak said on Monday. “I got to do a lot better job of putting us in better position. We’ve got solid backs, we’ve got a solid offensive line. Myself and the coaching staff, there’s plenty of things we can do better for our players.”
The math of the season creates a clear tension. The staff’s reliance on the current scheme and roster remains firm despite the statistical drop-off. yet the performance gap between the first week and the current slump is widening. Kubiak is betting that the fix lies in his own play-calling and schematic adjustments rather than a change in talent.
Whether that shift can manifest before the upcoming gauntlet of games will define the trajectory of the Raiders’ season.
