Jayden Daniels Returns As Washington Faces Depth Chart Crisis

Quarterback Jayden Daniels has returned to full practice ahead of Sunday’s game, but Washington faces significant personnel concerns with key receivers sidelined.

The path to Sunday’s game against the Giants became clearer Thursday when Jayden Daniels stepped onto the practice field as a full participant. After offensive coordinator David Blough labeled the quarterback “full go” earlier in the day. the sight of Daniels working without restriction signaled a major shift for the offense. He enters the matchup having already committed to playing with a brace on his left elbow. a necessity following his second dislocation of the joint during the Week 2 loss to the Cowboys.

While the quarterback situation stabilizes, the perimeter of the offense faces a looming vacancy. Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs both remained sidelined for the second consecutive day with hamstring injuries, putting their availability for the weekend in doubt.

Beyond the receivers, the training staff spent the day juggling a volatile injury report. There was positive movement for Sam Cosmi. who was upgraded from limited to full participation as he manages a concussion and throat injury. Tight end Ben Sinnott and linebacker Sonny Styles also saw their status improve to full participation. overcoming groin and rib issues respectively.

The roster volatility remains high, however. Offensive lineman Nick Allegretti saw his status slide, moving from limited to a DNP with hip and Achilles concerns, while safety Nick Cross dropped from full to limited due to an illness.

A lengthy list of players failed to practice entirely on Thursday. That group includes backup quarterback Marcus Mariota (knee). safety Percy Butler (hamstring). defensive end Charles Omenihu (groin/ankle). and safety Tyler Owens (hamstring). Meanwhile. a significant cluster of players remained limited. including running backs Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin). Jeremy McNichols (quad). and Rachaad White (shoulder). They were joined in limited status by linebacker Frankie Luvu (groin). corner Trey Amos (ankle). tight end Chig Okonkwo (hamstring). and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. (quad).

On the other side of the ledger, receiver Treylon Burks (shoulder), defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (shoulder), cornerback Fabian Moreau (knee), and safety Jeremy Reaves (finger) navigated the session as full participants, providing some stability amidst the wider uncertainty.
