Jack Smith attends anti-Trump concert wearing ‘No Kings’ shirt after Senate hearing

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former special counsel Jack Smith attended an anti-President Trump concert wearing a “No Kings” shirt after he testified in a Senate hearing about his probes into the president last week.
Smith was at the Power to the People Festival in Columbia, Md., on Saturday, which Rage Against the Machine guitarist and socialist demonstrator Tom Morello organized, and featured Trump critic Bruce Springsteen, who gave a speech against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement before singing, Mediaite reported.
Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl gave a shoutout while breaking into “My Hero.”
“This one goes out to my new friend Jack!” Grohl said.
Photos posted on X showed Smith wearing a black Springsteen shirt that reads, “No Kings.”
While on stage, Springsteen said ICE brought “death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis.” He released a song earlier this year condemning Trump and his “federal thugs” for their crackdown on illegal immigration, after the shooting death of Alex Pretti.
According to the festival’s website, the goal of the event was to bring together “artists, fans, activists, organizations and community leaders for an unforgettable day celebrating the power of music and collective action to inspire change.” The website said a “portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales plus 100% of the net proceeds from VIP tickets will be donated to VoteRiders,” a left-leaning organization.
The event followed Smith’s testimony before the Senate on Tuesday about his former probes into Trump.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, accused Smith of leading “disgraceful” investigations that would go down in history as the “most egregious abuse of power in the history of the Department of Justice.” Cruz claimed Smith’s “witch hunt” against Trump and other Republicans were the result of him wanting to bring down his political enemies.
“Let me say congratulations, because you have succeeded where Richard Nixon failed, which is weaponizing the Department of Justice to go after your political opponents,” Cruz said. “Congratulations.”
Smith brought two indictments against Trump during his time out of office — one related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents, and another tied to Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The former special counsel defended the integrity of both investigations during the hearing.
“Our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in serious crimes against our nation,” Smith said. “If asked whether to prosecute a former president today based on the same facts, I would do so regardless of whether that president was a Republican or a Democrat.”
