Iran Pushes Accelerated Ceasefire Plan as Regional Tensions Peak

Iran announced on Monday that it is seeking to accelerate its proposed ceasefire framework with the United States, trimming the implementation timeline as the region prepares for potential renewed military escalation.

Officials in Tehran stated that the seven-step diplomatic proposal introduced last month remains structurally unchanged but has now been condensed. According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, the plan can now be executed within two days rather than a week, provided American authorities accept the terms.

The initiative centers on the swift reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and the immediate resumption of negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Tehran’s core demands include lifting the naval blockade on its ports, repealing existing sanctions, guaranteeing an end to military strikes, and securing a complete regional ceasefire, with specific emphasis on Lebanon. Baghaei indicated that if these conditions are met, security in the Strait of Hormuz and diplomatic talks could be restored in a short period, adding that progress depends entirely on Washington’s approach.

The diplomatic push coincides with ongoing indirect negotiations facilitated by Qatari mediators. Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly granted broader authorities to the government to fast-track discussions aimed at ending the eight-month conflict, according to the state IRNA news agency.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed that Tehran is simultaneously prepared for diplomatic resolution and military confrontation. Speaking to IRNA during a visit to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Araghchi emphasized that accepting the conditions would immediately reopen the waterway and restart negotiations, warning that otherwise the current standoff will persist.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump described ongoing diplomatic contacts as going fine while reiterating warnings that Washington could launch military strikes following the November 3 midterm elections. Speaking on Sunday to the Right Side Broadcasting Network, Trump asserted that the conflict would conclude very soon, stating that Tehran would either reach an agreement or face a decisive outcome imposed by the United States.

Neither Iranian nor American officials have indicated whether Washington has formally signaled acceptance of Tehran’s accelerated terms.
