Indigo Sparke returns with her first album in over four years, recorded in Bristol during a significant personal transition.
The silence from Indigo Sparke’s studio output is ending. Four years after her last full-length release. the singer-songwriter has announced her third studio album. *There Is a Light on the Horizon Line*. scheduled for release on February 12. The project marks a new chapter for the artist, arriving via her freshly minted label imprint, Everwilde Records.
To signal the shift. Sparke has unveiled the record’s lead single. “Weird Fish.” The track. which follows the previously released title song. offers a glimpse into a project Sparke describes as a “meditation on the strange intelligence of love.” For the artist. the song explores how intimacy necessitates shedding old patterns to find new ways of being together. It is a bubbly. contemplative addition to her catalog that sits alongside a twelve-song tracklist including titles like “Opulent Blue. ” “Wings of Desire. ” and “Bardo.”.
This collection reflects a distinct change in process. After collaborating with Adrianne Lenker and Aaron Dessner on her previous two records. Sparke headed to Bristol to work with producer John Parish. The sessions were defined by a significant deadline: Sparke recorded the album while 33 weeks pregnant. The resulting soundscape features contributions from a veteran ensemble including Portishead’s Adrian Utley. Seb Rochford. Shahzad Ismaily. and her longtime collaborator Adam Brisbin.
The geography of the album is as notable as its personnel. Now based in California. Sparke’s decision to decamp to the United Kingdom for these sessions highlights the internal and external travel underpinning her new work. The tracklist concludes with “Dream Song. ” wrapping up a record that bridges the gap between her previous output and this new. motherhood-centered creative phase.
